They may not care much about my silly answers, so I usually try to spend most of my time devoted to giving serious answers. The odd thing is that some people are more impressed than I would expect them to be. Anyhow, it's not hard to do. It's just something that I enjoy, and I'm sure many other people do.

You have it sll wrong stupaso6. This is the best fun I have had in ages and I wish you would relax and have fun too! It can't hurt you can it? It won't lead you into financial distress, will it? It can't cause problems with your family can it? It can't make you sick, can it? So what is the problem with it?
When you answer questions like we are doing, no one interrupts you, no one argues with you! You are free to talk all you want and it is a really good outlet for a person who is alone in the world, or has to beg for a moments quiet in their house to be heard.
I don't try to impress anyone with my answers, I am simply talking to someone about what I know, or have experienced, or my opinion of their query. If they take the advice, listen to my experiences and learn from them, or benefit from my education is totally up to them. I don't know them physically, live in the same town, nor am I a part of their family. This means I can talk and advise and sometimes help somebody and then when I click submit, I move on to a different converstion and usually don't look back. So I am never bored.
Relax and visit a while, you will like it, I promise. As long as you don't hold the people who answered a question for responsible to take your advice and thank you for it. Give it freely without thought of receiving back for your time and thought and you will not care if they are impressed or not. They asked, you answered, and if they choose to take what you offered great if not it is theirs, when you hit submit and they can toss it if they want to.

Do we? (try to impress others) Seems to me a substantial portion of the answers are from people trying to help. Of course there are a few who just want to put people down because they feel bad about themselves. But hopefully, they'll get a bit of self-esteem eventually and not need to do it.

It's not about IMpressing...it's all about EXpressing. What may be a silly answer to you...may be life changing, encouraging, enlightening for another.

In this question we see a common phenomena.

The Questioner is neither very bright nor very educated.

He comes to this site and sees people giving answers which demonstrate a certain intelligence and a knowledge a particular subject.

He feels humiliated by his own internal comparison of the intelligence and knowledge of others with his own inadequacies.

Therefore, to compensate he must ascribe a negative motive to the Answerer, to wit, that they are seeking to impress and are too foolish to understand that knowledgeable and intelligent answers are not wanted.

He can therefore assure himself that he would give such answers but for the fact that he is too modest to attempt to impress and too clever to be duped into thinking that intelligent answers are desired.

He thus reassures himself that, despite all appearance and the judgment of everyone in authority who knows him, that he is not an inadequate, intellectually vapid, little loser.

Why do you ask such silly questions when we don't care what you ask?

You don't care about our answers, well friend, like we give a crap about your questions. Frankly our answers are better than your questions.

Why are you trying to impress us with your superiority over us because we answer questions like yours on this board?

Why are you here watching this train wreck unless you like the spectacle?

Silly, silly man.

Go away.

You bother me.

When I answer a question here, I do it in a way to entertain myself here alone in my office. I could care less what thousands of strangers think about my responses. I like to ponder life while I respond...and try to see who (and what) makes up society and the world. It's for me, in other words, not you. No offense of course.

Most people do it for the points. That's what I see. I don't try to impress people its not about that. I share my experience that's all.

I answer the questions to help ina subtle unrewarding way(apart from just feeling good) to help imporeve the world by sharing with them. if they take little from them thats their loss, not mine. I dish it out-its their choice beyond that. But to give ya confidence that we DO care i've made some VERY good friends through Yahoo Answers-one i cherish deeply. And no matter how sad that may appear we share. And thats the simple answer to your question-
TO SHARE!
