this is know as water hammer,there is air in the pipes and allso the pipe maybe to tight in a joist,sometimes it can be very difficult to get the air out,best to call in a plumber,if you want to try yourself turn tap on when noise accures go into roof space and see where noise is coming from and cheeck pipe is not to tight in joist,if it is you will need to increase size in joist, be carefull not to damage pipe,once you have done this then open all taps to allow for maximum flow of water then turn one tap off at a time,this may need to be reapeted many times,sometimes it can be very difficult to get trapped air out of the system,good luck(retired plumber)

Norman had good suggestions, but forgot one. There is a divise that the plumber can install on your water pipe called an "Air Chamber" which catches and holds air. When the water wants to vibrate, the air chamber acts like a shock absorber to releave the vibrations.

A simpler thing to check out first is:::
Often a faucet washer screw will work itself loose and the washer will just vibrate back and forth on the end of the faucet stem when you turn the water on. Just tighten the screw that holds the washer in place and poof, your problem is solved.
Betcha I'm right on this one.

I think it the pipes vibrating. It seems that if we have two faucets running in different sections of the house we might get it. I usually stops if we change the amount of pressure in the faucet. Seems worse if the water is running slowly;

My neighbour has this problem - air in your plumbing pipes - a plumber can fix the problem - which the plumbers you called should have done.
