Austin is sunny for over 320 days a year. It does rain in the springtime, but in the summer many weeks can pass without any rain at all. Tropical storm activity in the Gulf of Mexico does affect the weather in Austin. I have seen severe shower and thunderstorms in August, with occasional flooding in low lying areas.

More of a concern for many is the heat. Summers in Austin can be extreme, with temperatures regularly topping out at over 100 degrees F in July and August. Mixed with the humidity, the heat index can become dangerous.

To summarize, Austin's climate is agreeable overall. There is shower and thunderstorm activity in the spring and late summer. If you like hot, sunny weather, Austin's summers will fill the bill. The climate is temperate year round. Winters are very mild, and days of 70 degrees plus are common in January and February.

During the two main rainy seasons, Ausitn pretends to be a normal climate and rains about once a week or so. The other 9 months or so of the year we are happy to get a good shower monthly.

Summer is 90% of the time a drought.

I'm guessing the number of days per year is what's important to you, not how many inches of rain per year.

Average number of days of precipitation is 84. It will be raining about 25% of the year.
