I am made of the same matter as everyone else. I live and breathe the same air as you do. Because I believe in a faith, doesn't mean I'm not capable of making wrong decisions. My faith can't prevent marriages from falling apart. My faith doesn't protect me from worldly temptations. My faith gives me guidance, standards, and morals to strive by. You and I choose the path we wish to follow. And that path may not always be so straight and narrow. We are all human, we all mistakes and wrong decisions. It's what we take out of those lessons, trials and victories that make character. A faith is something to guide you through life. It doesn't make us invincible to error.

I am LDS.
Of course some church members have dysfunctional families. As others have stated, we are subject to the same passions and temptations as the rest of the world. The church does not encourage divorce but understands that some circumstances may necessitate it. We are encouraged to work through our struggles with patience and faith in the Lord. The church offers tremendous spiritual and emotional support and professional counseling is available through LDS social services. Unfortunately, for some, this is still not enough.
Some missionaries have waited to get their lives together. The church has also taken a stronger stance against this a couple of years ago when they "raised the bar." Young men were told to live worthily so that they will be eligible for missionary service and not to plan on repenting right before their missions. There are probably still some that squeak through.
You must also keep in mind that our church is a missionary one. Many of our members have joined the church later in their lives and do not have the advantage to have grown up in a home where Christ was the center. I, for example, joined the church during my senior year of high school. I was very wild, to say the least, but I wasn't a member of the church. Whatever our background may be, it is the Gospel of Jesus Christ that puts us in line. I am truly grateful for my membership in the church.
I hope that this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Your betcha. Mormons, like everyone else, are subject to pain, frustration and everyday things like families being torn apart, divorce, etc. Some missionaries do the last minute "get their life together thing" in order to go on missions, which I disapprove of. I believe that missionaries who were "wild" have missed out and should not be allowed to go on missions where they will give the Mormons a bad name!!!

Every family has their issues and even the most righteous of parents can have wild children and even children who fall away forever. It's true that being a wild teenager and finally settling down and doing what's right happens alot. But if your too wild and do things that are really bad....you may not be able to serve a mission. It's up to the bishop of your ward to decide if your fit to serve.

Mormons are no more dysfunctional than any other family.
People without religious affiliation have high divorce rates: 39% for men and 45% for women (divorced at least once). "Mormons have the lowest percentage ever divorced with values of 14 for men and 19 for women." Divorce rates plummet for those married in the Temple, with 5.4% for men and 6.5% for women.

Most families, mormon or not are dysfunctional. It's rare to meet someone who's parents are still together or who were never "wild". I don't think it's only mormons. No matter what religion you are, if any, you'll meet people with these type of problems.

The only difference with Mormon families is that they work A LOT harder at hiding the fact that they are disfunctional.

Well it was a good thing for my oldest sis and her kids, before that they didn't believe in anything. Not what the rest of us believe, but everybody can choose.

considering they put women in a subservient position, and allow their members to marry more than one, and have many children from these women, I would say YES they are dysfunctional.
