Why is it that so many believe that abortion is murder?

Is it because they are too influenced by religion, or because they've never had to confront it, or because they have,and decided against it?

First off, no MAN can ever have "experienced" it. Even if it was his potential child. It's still a woman's body.
Secondly, honestly, I think it's mostly religious influence. The same as those who are against Gay Marriage or gays in general. They are simply too overly influenced by religion and have lost their God given ability to rationalize and think for themselves.

What do you think the abortion is aborting? It's stopping a growth of a human being. And my beliefs definitely don't come from a religious point of view, just my own certainty that life begins at conception.
I had to add that life begins AT conception, not before (or after) because it is the union of sperm and egg- neither one on their own will make an individual, but when they come together, that's the spark, the catalyst for another soul to enter our physical world.
Also, if a baby is not a baby till it's born, then why would any pregnant women care to protect what's in their belly?
I have always felt this way, before I was ever pregnant, and since.

I still don't think it should be illegal, because in many cases, it's the better option, unfortunately. I am the only one in my friends who has not had one abortion. Some have had more than one. Right now, i have a friend who's pregnant who smokes and does drugs! I'd rather see her abort the pregnancy than have a messed-up baby. But it still would be murdering that baby. A justified murder. Like self-defense.

If you are pregnant, good luck with whatever you do. Just be sure you think out your best option, don't just think an abortion is an easy thing to do. All my friends have had nightmares or feelings of sadness over the baby they missed. One also had complications and almost died.

Personally I don't think that Religion should even enter into to whether or not you have an abortion.... If you "Play" - You "Pay"!
If more people both young and old (child bearing age) would be more responsible then there would be no question about having an abortion. I Love Children and would do all I could to talk someone out of having an abortion as I think of it as taking an innocent life. The baby did not ask to be brought into this world, and I think that it is so wrong to literally take anther's life (baby) when there are so many men and women that have spent so much money just trying to have a baby. I would think the Mother and or Father would be highly selfish to even think of such a thing.
Plus, even though the baby may start out as a mass of cells or whatever was said, he/she is still alive inside a woman's body...
Common sense, not hormones should take over regarding this question..... So in essence, I DO Think That it is Murder!!!
BTW, I was 10 1/2 weeks pregnant with my second child when I had a spontaneous abortion.... It was a matter of life and death as I was hemorrhaging so bad. It was too late to save the baby, so I got to live. I will always remember August 13th!!!!!

I didn't understand abortion till I was pregnant, and I saw my 4 month old fetus on the ultrasound. The fingers, the toes, the profile of the baby's face. The little heart beating....

the next day I had a miscarriage....it was a death

So when there is an abortion, it is murder, because it was a living fetus. Anytime somebody stops a beating heart, it is murder....not religion, just fact.

I think that people that haven't seen abortion, don't realize how gruesome it is. Personally, I can't even look at the pictures of the baby's limbs and body in different pieces after abortion.

All of the above. They have never confronted it so they think they themselves can avoid having unwanted pregnancy. Many of those who have done abortion regretted it and they admitted that it was a painful experience both physically and emotionally.
Abortion is not merely taking away a piece of tissue out of a woman's womb, it is terminating the life of a human being even if you know the zygote will not really feel it. If this bothered the conscience of many who have done it, it should be a huge crime.
I don't blame the kids who haven't thought of it deeply before having sex. We are all humans and have hormones that will drive us crazy . I blame the great modernization and the need for a huge deal of money that is needed just to have one baby. The parents are totally disowning their kids if they made that fatal mistake of having unwanted pregnancy. If only everyone will be such good people as to understand that procreation is just natural and it is not really shameful to have a baby at a young age. America is a land of opportunities. A single mom can afford to raise her child. Every girl should know this.

Just an interesting question/point to bring up... How can someone determine when life actually begins? Is it really at conception? The sperm and egg are still living organisms, just like an amoeba is a living organism. Couldn't one argue then, that by using the morning after pill, or even a condom, is a form of abortion/murder? I personally don't agree with abortion in its commonly accepted definition, because I do believe that the fetus is a human life, but I just thought that I would bring up this idea to pose to those of you who say that "life begins at conception."

No where in the Bible does it state that the human soul enters the fetus at conception. This is an assumption. The Scriptures do mention in several places the "breath of life." An acorn is not an oak tree.

Those that believe that abortion is murder usually are never place in a position where they personally needed to make this choice. This that wish to make this a political issue instead of a religious issue are generally self-righteous. Divinity never said "Stop anyone from murdering." The rule goes "Thou shall not kill."

With this in mind, what sense does it make to execute killers or go to war? Many who fight for the rights of the unborn are the same one to support prisoner executions and the national war effort.

Don't get me wrong, I do not believe in most abortions (I do in discipline) and have a son in the Army in Afghanistan. I do not understand fanatics.

It is because abortion is killing a human being. The vast majority of abortions in the United States are performed for convenience. Sacrificing a child's life for your own social convenience should hardly be a right. I don't know that I would go so far as to call them murderers, but I think it is wrong to use abortion for other than medical need. If the mother's life is in danger is one thing, but if only the mother's social time is in danger that is another. That's my opinion. I'm sure it's not popular, but I'm entitled to it and you asked.

It has nothing to do with religion, it is pure science that abortion after a mother is quick with the child is considered as infanticide, i.e. as bad as murder of an infant before it is born. Foetus grows into a child with all its individuality in the mother's womb itself much before it is born. Womb is a house where it grows safely, but when it continues growing and the womb becomes too small a place for further growth it comes out and we call it the birth of the child. Where is religion about it? 20th week and beyond after pregnancy is called 'quick with the child' .

Ask a child if it is murder. The first time my kids found out what abortion was they were horrified. They'd been told soon before that my sister was pregnant, and they KNEW that baby was alive in there. Even a child knows that to kill it is murder and is WRONG!!!
