I use Yahoo for quick online searches, because it's on my toolbar, and like on every other page of Yahoo.
But, if I'm doing deep searches, meaning going through 40+ pages of results, then I find that Google does a slightly better job than Yahoo. But again, I stress slightly.

The four biggies in the US are
Yahoo!
Google
Ask
MSN
Google is undoubtably the most popular, though studies have shown that Yahoo!, Google and MSN all feature comparable results.
Personally, I prefer Yahoo!, thought I may be biased since I work for them.
