You can tell the truth without being rude, don't you agree? If not, why?

i guess it depends on HOW the question is asked.
i just saw a question that said:
"Why are gay people so *****?"
how is that supposed to make gay people feel? frankly, it would be nothing short of AMAZING if someone didn't take offense and lash out.
now if the asker had said something like:
"Why do homosexuals (to be politically correct) tend to act so different than heterosexuals?"
if someone were to be downright rude to a question like that then they are just being asinine.
good question though. not the least bit offensive. kudos!

I agree with Kiss also I believe that parents today are all too BUSY to teach their kids value and manners which go hand in hand with tact. Look at the way some people answer questions and ask question or state comments on here. Good Luck

Tact involves the ability to say and do the right thing at the right time.Sometimes it might be tactful to be rude and offensive,in order to control the responses of others.

I love questions like this...I think art of being tactful and other virtues are never gone if you keep them with YOU. We live in a 'bandwagon' world and if you stick with it, it may just come back in style, you never know...

But all that aside, the problem with rudeness is whats rude to you may not be whats rude to me. So the problem is how we see others; our impression of others influences our tolerance for others.Or perhaps, the lack thereof.

It's worst in the US, but then, that's a country that considers Allen Iverson and Kobe Bryant to be role models while it ignores David Robinson and Steve Nash.

If you want something to blame, blame the Ronald Reagan "Me decade" of the 1980s, when being rude became heroic, where rationalizing one's behaviour instead of taking responsibility became the norm. Blame sports and pop culture for starting it and for the media (MTV and the large networks) for perpetuating it.

I agree totally people who answer rudely while being truthful are often attacking the questioner.

Good Luck and God Bless!!

Not necessarily. What if "the truth" you have to tell is "You're a jerk"? There's no tactful way to say that.
