Did your parents help you? Did you do it on your own? Did you get a lot of scholarships, grants or loans? I am so lost.. .and it feels like it's too late to apply for grants or scholarships. I think I'll have to rely mostly on loans.. I don't have a very high GPA so I didn't get a grant or anything :[. But I'm going to a community college, and I think I'll be ok.. I don't think it will be more than a thousand bucks for one semester, am I wrong?

Ahh! don't get me wrong.. I'm not saying I can't go to college because of the money! Of course I'm going either way, I'm just wondering how others did it and what worked best for them.

My parents didn't help me. first i went to a junior college and financial aid paid for some of it, i got a job at the school but mostly i borrowed money- loans. Now i go to a community college and it's about 2,200 per semester plus about 400 for books, lucky me financial aid and tap pays for it. Maybe it's too late to apply for a scholarship but not for grants, try getting your GPA up and try to get a scholarship for the next semester. Or get a job to help you out. But one thing is for sure, education is important and you can always pay you're loans back after you graduate and if you don't find a job after wards they will defer (meaning you don't have to pay it) until you get a job. So i say, go to school.

Instead of asking this silly site how to pay for college, why don't you google for an answer?
There are are more damn ways to pay for college than I can enumerate.
Scholarships: everything from lefthanded people to religious;
Work programs: check out Berea University and others like it;
ROTC: Get cool uniforms, learn how to kill our enemys, GET
PAID FOR IT!, cool!;
Government loans: Not a good way to go...rates too high, even for a jackass government and then you have to pay, pay, pay every month after you get out of college;
Military service: They'll now give you a crap load of money for college (or whatever) after you finish putting your life on the line...if you survive (I must admit I'm not really conversant on this subject since I used the GI Bill 40 years ago).
And if all else fails, get off your lazy *** and get you one or two full or part time jobs and sleep during the few free minutes you'll have between classes.
This is America! Even dorks like Jimmy Carter, George Bush and draft-dodging Bill Clinton can become President. Why the hell can't you get through college? You're out of high school. Your parents have done the "biggest" part of their duty to you (okay, so they "should" still help you with college, but maybe they can't). So get off your dead *** and get you a "gimmick." They's thosands out there. You just have to find one or two. If you sit around relying on someone else to help you through life, oh, well, hell, figure it out yourself.

Well, my sister and I are going to college, and my mom was getting her B.S. degree, so we got some financial aid. I go to a private relgious school, so my religious affliation got me a nice grant. The only other way is to boost your GPA and try for academic scholarships. Other than that I pay through good 'ol loans. Unless you want to sign your life over to the government..you'll just have to search scholarship websites.

i worked for a year and saved everything and got a loan for the difference... just to pay for the first year.

my first semester i took the max units in very advanced classes, worked my *** off and aced the semester..

then i received grants and scholarships and anonymous private donors because of my success.

it's all about drive... if you have it, you'll find a way.

Parents did not help me. I joined the military back during Nam and went to college on the old GI bill. I also worked part-time.

Try working on campus like at the library. Many campus jobs offer flexible work hours that work with your class schedule.
