They are called Tonsiliths. They are harmless but they do smell rancid. Basically it is food particles, dust, plaque from your teeth or whatever that gets behind your tonsils and it becomes incased with bacteria and byproducts of your immune system. The only way to get totally rid of them would be to have your tonsils removed. A much less invasive way is to Brush and floss every day after every meal and gargle with a strong mouthwash. I like total toothpaste and crest mouthwash. Also it is a good idea to avoid foods that are crunchy like fried food and nuts as that tends to make these more common.

I called them nergies. They are from the pus pockets in your tonsils. Since I have had my tonsils removed I am not hocking them up anymore. You may have bad tonsils. I was on antibiotics for about 3 years off and on. They would go away and come back repeatedly. When i finally was chronically hoarse, my family doctor referred me to a surgeon and they were excised. They sent them to a pathology in Ontario. I had Hyperplastic follicular gonadotropic neoplasia. That basically means that I had very quickly growing cells in the glands and follicles.
