Sometimes yes and sometimes no, about loving a baby before you meet it
.
An example of yes: when I was pregnant with my boys I bonded with them from the moment I choose to have them. It excited me to know that I was bring a new life into this world that was part me and part my husband.
An example of No: a woman who chooses to be a surrogate could not ever feel "love" for the child she is carrying; or a rape victim that ends up pregnant and chooses to give the child up for adoption rather than have an abortion could end up hating the child.
Studies have been done on the very question what determines why we love a baby. The research shows that MOST women (there are some that have NO maternal feelings ever) have a chemical change in their brains once pregnancy occurs. Then as the pregnancy progresses the physical bond occurs for women. Men on the other hand mostly bond or love the baby only after feeling it move, or see it on an ultrasound. Others don't bond with the baby until it is born and they hold it.
I hope this answers your question.

The love you have for your brother and the love you have for your baby is a whole different kind of love. When the baby moves and you can feel it kick and then when you sing or talk the baby is calm. The experience of having a baby live in you is truly a gift from God. I love my husband more than anyone in the world..I also love my daughter more than anyone, yet it doesn't mean I don't love God or I love them more. Just like when you say you love cake ..it doesn't mean you love cake more than you do your own mother. When you give birth you see a beautiful baby that has been living inside you for all those months and you are so glad to finally meet them, you just cant help but love them. That is the most awesome love there is. Nothing can really determine why you love the baby.. just that you do

Loving your a brother and loving your child are two completely different kinds of loving. I wouldn't say that one you can love one or the other more, just differently. As for loving a person that you don't even know, it's definitly an odd and wonderful thing. It could be that we are able to love them because they are a part of us and inside our body however I don't think this can account for all of it because if so then it would meen that men can't love the unborn baby. Also, I have known women who do not love the child that they carry. Sad but true. I think it depends a lot on the type of person you are. If you are naturally a loving and caring person than it comes naturally. But if you are a cold and self-centered person, you may not love the baby at all. Every situation is different.

It sounds like you may be feeling a little jealous of your sister's pregnancy. If the two of you had an argument, then she was probably feeling protective of her baby. Try sharing her excitement and joy, and you will feel the love from her that you feel is fading. The love a mother feels for her child is different than any other love.
How do you think your mother felt about you when you were growing inside of her? If you felt unloved, maybe that's why you're feeling a little jealous about your sister's baby.
This is your chance to show your sister how much you love her. Go out and get her a little baby gift. Things will become better for the two of you.

Because it is a part of you, and hopefully someone that you love very much. I have one growing inside me and I am so excited to see that little bundle of joy, or just to feel it kick would be awesome. My husband and I had been trying forever and now nothing could take that joy away. The bond is just natural and it will never go away. The child will depend on you and love you without judgement. The need and dependency makes you love it even more. The baby is yours, something you created, that is definately stronger than any other love.

You cannot explain why you love your unborn child. I felt a connection immediately. As previous people have said the love for your baby and brother are two very different things. Not everything can be explained... for me the bond is very strong and I am only 19 weeks!

its quite unbelievable you would have to experience it on your own to know the feeling..i myself thought i would be a terrible mother since i did not feel that much love for the child inside of me....once i gave birth and saw my baby for the first time and held her in my arms i felt all the love i had for her...i always saw mothers in t.v.cry when they had their babies i thought i would not do this...how could i...but i did......it was just incredible........the same question you ask i wondered about...but now i love this child more than anything in the world....

the baby that is growing inside of you is a part of you. if you love yourself, then you cn also love this baby. you may not know him/her just yet, but that is half the fun of having a child and raising him/her.
