I went to hypnosis August of last year and haven't smoked since. I was really ready to quit and the hypnotist - a professional, not an entertainer - implanted the idea of anxiety any time I came into contact with the possibility of smoking. I haven't smoked since. Two of my workmates were also successful, but many have not been successful. I think you must really, really want to quit.

I smoked for a long time. Really a hardcore smoker too. Last year in January , I decided I'd smoked long enough so for 2 weeks I would just "puff" and then blow the smoke out. That's all - just puff and puff - but never inhale. Well I tell you, after 2 weeks - I got up one morning and thought that's It for me. No more "puffing" I'm proud to say that after a year and a half - I don't even think about it anymore. The first 2 or 3 days , I kept saying to myself - I can do this. After a few days the jones will leave. It worked for me Good Luck.

A friend of mine smoked for 20 years and took a few hits off of a joint when ever he wanted a smoke. Pot is less addictive than tobacco, if at all. He also had an excercise bike he got on during the day whenever it hit. Good luck.

Cold turkey worked for me but only if I stay away from other smokers, because I know they'll always 'bum' me a smoke if I ask. Really though, It works by thinking to yourself you can always have another one if you really want, just don't have THIS one. Also, just because you may slip and have one on "accident" you can stop again and keep trying. Good luck!:)

I've heard that setting yourself a 'quit date' is a good strategy. If you pick a date to stop smoking in advance you have time to work youself up to it and then stick to your decision.
Another method is to make smoking a non-enjoyable event for youself. One of my firends started smoking crap brand cigarettes & smoked with the oppositte hand to put herself off smoking. And she's quit for over 8 years now!
