Hell yes! Look at what's going on now and the answer to this is mute. We are well on our way to becoming useless and a third world country. China is quickly advancing into the spot that we once held and you can blame the politician's for that. With NAFTA and all that crap about "free trade" we're sunk if something doesn't change quickly. Better start learning Spanish, Chinese, etc. because English will not be the "official" language of America if this keeps up.

With an all out nuclear war the Earth could become empty very quickly. Since our GDP is 12 Trillion dollars or one-third of the entire worlds, if we go, everyone is going down with us. I guess the answer is possibly, but probably no one will be around to gloat about it. The Chinese GDP is only about 3 Trillion, both Germany and Japan have greater GDP's than China, and both those countries were written off after losing WW 2, but look they're not third world!

If does happen, it will not be in our lifetime. It would take a major natural disaster or nuclear war to cause it anytime soon. If anything the United States is going to lose its title of "Super Power" to China. The economy of the U.S. will not be harmed by this if China keeps growing more commercial like it is. There is no reason why both countries can not succeed together. Unless China starts to invade the other countries of Asia. Then the U.S. will go to war, an action that could start a nuclear war. So actually, it might happen sooner than I thought. NOT!!

I think we won`t be a 3rd world country but our standard of living could be so suppressed that we have to rely on big corporations to help us rather then a government. We are already looking like "We the Corporations instead of "We the People" but if China wanted the money right now we owe them then maybe a 3rd.

We're on the road and at break neck speed! The Dems and Reps have screwed us for decades into paying taxes when Alaska has a way to PAY not tax their residents!
Read www.earthrights.net/docs/oilrent that oilrent on the end.
A system like this can be done for every state and the FEDS should do 50 times better with all their resources!

Yes. Many economists project that if we continue the course the country is in now, we would be a third world country in a decade or so.

It can, if repugs keep electing idiots like bush.

Plus all powerful countries wane after a while. They become arrogant , self-absorbed and obese first. Watch for these signs. It signals the end is near.

We never will be. A third world country is one that's undeveloped. We've been developed for hundreds of years.

You can fall from the top but you can never change the fact that you made it to the top to begin with.
