Ok, first of all, it should be "why ARE there none alive today?" not "is", anyway, supposing they DO exist, how do you know there aren't any alive today? I don't believe the life of an immortal has ever been documented, so who's to say they aren't alive long after you're dead? And maybe they live in some remote place where things like that aren't well known to civilization...just a thought.

If this is a religious issue they are alive. If you believe in Christianity you know that you have an immortal soul that will live forever and ever in Heaven. As for immortals on Earth, they don't exist except for Jesus. Jesus is always around us and watching out for us. We make our own decisions on how to lead our lives but in the End if you followed the right paths you will be with God.

Immortality is not a question of whether one will physically or biologically die. If it is, nothing physical is immortal and it will be a question of transformation instead (you die physically, but you turn into something else: ash, carbon dioxide, soil, another form of living being..)
Rather, immortality is a question of persistence. An idea can be immortal because for a very long time (our nearest grasp of eternity), it persists. It may be passed down to generations and generations to millenia, but it is still the same idea. Concepts and deeds can be immortal as long as theyre not forgotten. There is a small chance in eternity that albert einstein or george bush can be immortalized not beacuse they will not die but because of whatever they have done or are doing (not necessarily arguably good).
Religious immortality is also another form, although in this context, my knowledge is as limited as that of an ant, so I cant really argue about it.

Define alive.... human bodies as we know them are not immortal. But the spirit of something is an "essence" and does live on, if only as a belief that is passed on. And though I'm not a personal fan of reincarnation... some would argue that one could remain immortal by living on as another being.

There's six billion people alive on the planet, man. If one were immortal, then they are breathing and alive today. That question could only be answered after the extinction of all life. Then who would ask it? To ask that question is to presume the possibility of immortality. The fact that we all croak is merely a presumption, based on thousands of years of livin' and dyin'. In my opinion, based on the overwhelming statistics, and inevitable cell division, and entropy... I'll see you in the soil.

You have no proof that there are none alive today. Maybe they just change identities every now and then.

Because our spirits all live eternally in one place or another. Only the body decays/dies.
