Yahoo's "reasoning" for sending the warning depends on the person sending the warning. Consequently, most times it's capricious and vindictive, not a matter of what you really said.
I was warned because I said something factual about a religion. The person who complained didn't like the fact and the person who sent the warning obviously agreed.
I wasn't warned because of the veracity of my words, I was warned and threatened because they were unpopular. I've said much stronger things elsewhere and not been warned, so it's the luck of the draw and a matter of how whiny some people can be.
As long as you're not advocating hate and violence or breaking the law in any way, forget about it. If you are advocating hate speech (eg. "Leviticus 13:18 says I can murder gays!") then don't act surprised if you're cut off. Yahoo is a private company and Answers is a product of theirs with terms of use. If you want unlimited free speech, post on Usenet newsgroups.
The best thing to do is have two accounts for posting, one for innocuous and safe stuff (most of your questions and answers), and one for controversial topics. That way, if one account gets tossed you don't lose a lot of points (the downside being the two accounts' points can't be combined).

No, haven't seen e-mails like this. Yet, I've seen participants who probably need to see one like this. I also don't see the wisdom in having two accounts. The techs at 'Yahoo Answers' can easily determine that an IP address has multiple accounts. Monitoring can quickly tell you about the family structure at the IP address.
I believe frequent participation can often lead to errors in judgment
regarding the community guidelines.
There's also too, a close knit group who support one another in terms of voting and point collecting. I don't know how this group can feel pride in the manner in which they do this. This alienates the lone users and creates subgroups.
I also think that, on the flip side, 'Yahoo' needs to provide more attention to the people who respect the spirit of the site and provide quality interaction. What about points for quality participation instead of quantity?

I'd say you made the WRONG person MAD. Kind of like idiot neighbors who want to give you a hard time and report you for the stupidest things. You know those city ordinances that don't mean a thing until someone calls and complains because their boss was tough on them, or your home is nicer then theirs and they can't stand it because they had a bad day and they don't want anyone else to be happy if they aren't. You know what I'm talking about. Same thing here.......
Disclaimer Notice, I love my neighbors and the ones that caused me so much grief have left. So nothing against any of my current neighbors. Just in case you are on Yahoo answers also.

Don't sweat it! It is nothing but a Terms Of Service form letter that is likely generated automatically after someone complained about you.
If for any reason you were to be actually reprimanded for anything, so what? Just get a new yahoo identity and start a new!

No, I haven't received one or seen one, but I have turned someone in.
The subject of his question was not right. The person was asking for nude pictures of 12 and 15 year old girls. So if that person got taken off or received a letter like you are saying, well that person deserved it.
It also depends on what you asked or how you said it. Some people take offense very easily. It is awful that you have to watch every thing that you say, because of how someone will react to it, or you offened them in some way. What ever happened to freedom of speech? I'm not saying call someone a name or say something disgusting, but we should beable to say our opinion.
Isn't that what this is for ? Asking and finding out things.

I have never received anything like this. I did have a question removed because they said I was advertising and thus broke community guidelines. I put the name of a sports team in my question, which is apparently considered advertising, but naming TV shows, songs, movies, etc. is not. I wonder who decided that. I guess I better be more careful now, huh.

Yep. Someone who doesn't like white people fabricated a complaint and sent it. I have sent Yahoo copies of his obscene and harrassing emails, but they can't do anything about him or that Kentucky jackass. You can't get any real info out of them, they just send another letter refering you to TOS.

I have heard others complain too. The staff are starting to make the experience here no longer fun or interesting.

They just don't like us much. Look at the others in my group, many have been violated and suspended for b.s. reasons. I don't know why they haven't popped me yet. *sigh* I'll just have to keep trying I guess!
