Smitfraudfix is certainly design to remove things like TitanShiled. However some files that was not removed by SF can be found and removed by Spybot.
Heres a complete removal procedure using the two tools.

Download Spybot Search And Destroy...it was able to find the Titan Shield spyware (advertising anitspyware) when other like Spy Sweeper were not...found this Spybot recommended in another forum and I downloaded it. It found the antispyware popups and removed them (i believe there were 11 in all)..only did this a few minutes ago, but it seems to have worked.
The best part is that Spybot is FREE.
UPDATE: ended up doing 2 things to get rid of this crap and the SpySheriff that I found on my computer as well...
#1 searched for Titan in all of my C drive and deleted the 7 files tha showed up.
#2 ran smitRem from www.2-spyware.com - search their tutorials for it, it removed the SpySherrif and other stuff that seemed to always come back when using SpyBot.
So far so good...no more Titan Shield popups, and apparently no more SpySheriff, and the other crap that acts similarly.

I had this happen yesterday to me. The program made it seem like it was something to do with Microsoft Windows and was needed and kept popping up. My husband thought it was something to do with a program we purchased or an update or something, not knowing it was a program we didn't need and then purchased Titan Shield. (AHHH!) I have since uninstalled it and have e-mailed the company requesting a refund. I am also reporting them to the BBB on account of fraudulent advertising. If anyone else has more infor. I would appreciate it. Thanks. Also PC magazine said something about this program having a malicious software attached and should be removed.

Be sure to update SpyBot ... it does remove TitanShield.
You can also download and run SmitfraudFix which is designed for this specific type of virus. TitanShield is a variation of the Smit Fraud virus.
I found that SpyBot got a little bit that SmitfraudFix missed.

My husband just called me with the same problem. I can not find a phone number for them or anything. I did email the them with some nasty words and a threat to return a phone call to me. He went to remove program and it wasn't listed in his programs to uninstall, he also can not clear history or cookies now either. Argh! I hate this company! I am filling out a FTC complaint next.

Call or email the provider to cancel. Go into remove programs on your computer and select the program you want to remove and select remove on your add or remove programs button probably accessible from your start menu. I recommend norton/symmantec but do your research for I'm no expert. Good luck!

I had the same problem all day and was going nuts. I used the link that J.T. supplied and it worked like a charm.
I tried to clean it with Spybot, Ad-Aware and Tauscan but had no luck. I thought I was going to have to re-build my machine, what a nightmare that would have been!
Thanks J.T. for posting the link!
