i have read a lot into witchcraft lately, i have become very interested in it. i have heard many different opinions. some people say that witchcraft is the work of the devil and that it is an abomination to god. others say that only voodoo is evil and that witchcraft is another form of praying if your spells are for good intentions. so, if i am a christian and love god.... will god shun me away if i perform witchcraft?

What you need to do is go and do a lot of research. You will have people on both sides telling you "Oh, it's good" or "Don't even talk about, it's the Devil!". You, as an intellegent person, need to make up your own mind. If witchcraft makes you feel like a better person, so be it. If you find it is not for you, so be it. I wouldn't let fear be my guide. I'm sure that God, in whatever form, would want you to use your brain to make the decision and not someone else's.

And no, I don't think you would be "shunned". Bless your little heart!! Good luck!

I think witchcraft is fluff.
Sorry but I cannot take it seriously.
I sometimes say that I can do harm to people by thought... but the truth is, I never really mean it.
:-)

Don't think about such stupid things - they don't exist. It all depends on your beliefs. I think if you believe it, it works - on you!
It is like self-fulfilling psychology, combined with the power of the mind. I don't deny that it is possible to make things happen "indirectly"... and get things done by prayers..... but usually bad intention do not pay out on the long term, so you better skip that part and keep going with your well-based beliefs.
Pray as you used to, and leave the fluff!
If you believe in something, it will come to you - even without witchcraft. If it was meant to be, nothing will prevent the good things from coming to you!
:-)

there is whitch craft and there are witches

witches tend to be pagan traditional healers or herbal medicin women ,in some countries very respectable and accepted even by governments.

witchkraft is mostly in the movies .
black magic or voodoo these can be not really be called satanic because they fall outside of Christianity they are pagan practises ,and Satan and the Devil is a Christian concept.not Pagan

when Christians conquered Pagan religions they superimposed satan or the devil over Pan or Dionasses ,the very respectable God of Nature ,a personification of part of the concept of Gaia.
half man half goat ,and what was a good powerfull God for Pagans became the most evil of evils.
which was not a very nice thing to do to a revered God
.
now things are very mixed up with pieces of different religions and belief being on top of one another creating confusion as to what is what.

but there is black magic and white magic .one is evil and the other is good .
and again they are outside of the concept of Christianity,
which likes to label anything ,not Christian the work of the Devil ,like in the middle ages .

some times it seems as if we go backwards .

and as for your question is concerned ,
Christianity does not like any thing magical apart from their own.,
so be prepared to be shunned.

How would any of us know that? Only God would know that. If you feel like you are doing something wrong when you "perform" witchcraft, then most likely you shouldn't do it. If you feel at one with your personal meditations and prayers, then you'll be fine.
I think "prayer" these days has lost its meaning. So much energy and will can come from performing "spells" or rituals. It may feel much stronger & personal to someone.
The term "witchcraft" is just a label.

Below is a direct quote from a very good website that is very informative. I looked a lot into witchcraft or 'wicca' before I got into spirituality. The beliefs that it's evil or from the devil is religious scaremongering from ignorant people who don't know any better. I'm sure you've read about the power of 3, whatever you send out comes back at you 3 times, if this is true why would anyone send out evil? I'm sure if there was a god (my belief) they'd be happy you want to do something that uses nature in positive ways.....

* We attempt to live by the Wiccan rede, not harming anyone or anything by our actions (or lack of them).
* We take personal responsibility for our actions.
* We always attempt to respect and live in harmony with nature.
* We view divinity as both male and female, in the form of the Goddess and God. We extend this view of equality to our everyday lives.
* We view magic as an intrinsic part of this world, a completely natural and neutral force.
* We never seek to convert others, only providing information and assistance if they actively seek it.
* We view Wicca or Witchcraft as one spiritual path chosen by some, other religions are equally valid for those that choose them. Hence we always attempt to practice tolerance to others beliefs.

I don't think God will shun you just for performing witchcraft. Be careful - I think wiccans believe that anything you do will come back to you multiplied, so it's probably best to do nothing, or only to do good.

I personally believe that God loves anything that is good, kind, open, honest, loving, and for the good of others. I think that God does not like greed, selfishness, covetousness, hatred, or fear. Keep this in mind at all times and you should be ok.

I don't believe God will shun you. There are passages in the bible that sound very much like acts of witchcraft were being done (ie Jesus turning water into wine). It's all about view point. I have a very different view point than others. Now, when it comes to other christians, I will bet my whole months pay that they will shun you, call you vile names, tell you that you are going to hell, etc. etc.

Just my thoughts.

There are groups of Christian witches who believe that the Anti Witchcraft statements in the Bible were added later to control the public and shy them away from less traditional Christain practices.

Nevertheless, these groups are still around and practicing in many countries around the globe.

Read your Bible. It says quite plainly to avoid witch craft, among other things. The question you're really looking for as a Christian, is what is witch craft? It is the calling upon the spiritual and ethereal forces of the world while kinda side stepping God in the process. God performs all miracles that are in modern 'Wicca' and much much more. Modern Wicca is so perverted from it's true forms that it is totally unreliable.

witchcraft is the work of people not of God nor of Satan---people. It is closer related to the Satanic cults in alot of its forms--and it is spoken of in the Bible as being something believers should stay clear of ......Now the little witches union will decend and tell you that it is a pagan relationship with nature--and that it is simply a form of alchemy based worship and all that other stuff but what it boils down to is a bunch of people trying to get Seth to cough up goodies to make their life less boring than it is .....
