Congratulations on your pregnancy!
I'm 15 weeks pregnant, and experiencing the same sort of pains. I have been experiencing these pains from when I was about 7 weeks pregnant, although the 'sharp' pain that I get now lasts longer. Unless your pain is accompanied by bleeding, I would just call your doctor and describe it.. He or she might require to see you, or might decide that they are just 'growing pains'.
I mentioned them to my doctor, and he said that it's normal, and it's just 'stretching' pains. I think you should take it as a good sign that the baby is growing like it is meant to!

Try to evaluate the pain in relation to other things:
What were you doing when the pain began? Could there be a relationship? How long have you been feeling the pain? Is it tender to the touch (when you press on the area) or only with certain movements, or any movement?
Are you having other unusual symptoms such as fever, nausea, burning or urgency when you urinate, constipation, back pain, swelling in the area of the pain; vaginal discharge, bleeding, foul odor, etc.
The most common pain, frequently located on just one side, is round ligament pain, and it can feel similar to a muscle strain. The uterus is growing very rapidly at your stage of pregnancy and there are ligaments (one on each side) which support it and are growing and stretching too. They will sometimes cramp, especially if you move too quickly, or when rolling over, especially if your abdominal muscle tone is not too great. Try holding the area when you roll or move.
There are many other things it could be. If rest and careful movement do not relieve it (or you are running a fever, etc.) then you have to begin considering other things such as, such as bladder infection, and you should contact your midwife or doctor soon, not wait until your next scheduled visit.

this is normal
during this exact time in pregnancy, your baby has went through "lightening", because you are in your second trimester, and it is normal to have right ligament pain
normal
your doc will tell you the same thing
but if you start to have fever, or cramping...get to the ER immediately and call your doctor on the way!

I had pain like that and when I went to labor and delivery they told me I was having early labor. I would definitely call your OB-GYN, because if they catch it early enough that can prevent it from happening this early.
