depends what you want to do. the marines are the toughest guys in the military. they are killing machines. they are trained for combat and they aren't given as much equipment.

the navy is a more technical endeavor. you will be trained in electronics maybe, or working decks or some such, depending on your post. but the training and the job won't be as physically demanding.

It depends on who you are, what you wish to accomplish, and how you feel you could best serve.
The Navy would by and large offer a greater latitude in terms of job descriptions, but I can say with the certainty of personal experience that the Marines is by far the best experience in growth in terms of personal character, commitment, and learning the art of stepping up to a challenge, much of which is in short supply today.
My perspective>>>I joined the Marines during the Iran Hostage Crisis in 1979, served overseas, but did not see combat.
My choice may not be yours. Talk to veterans of both branches and see what their experiences were, they are probably a better source of whether to join any branch than a recruiter.

neither...just kidding. I think that you will benefit from the Marines. The training is tougher and more than likely be ordered to go overseas for wars. if you would like to be stuck on a ship for long periods of time, then do navy. However, Ive heard that whatever branch you join, it is more beneficial signing up at least 4 years. Visit your local recruiters and see what each branch has to offer.

That depends on what you want to do with your life. What are your goals and objectives? What is your reason for joining the armed services?
