My 86 Rinker, is having a problem. Its a inboard motor, and the lower unit wont raise or lift. When i try to raise it using the button a clicking sound occurs. I looked for a lock for the lower unit and couldnt find one. I have one idea of wat it could be and i'm about to try it. But plz help me, trying to put it in the water today.

you have 2 solenoids that control the up and down directions for the hydraulic pump usually both solenoids wont go bad at the same time but there is a common wire for both or refereed to as ground could be the problem

What sort of outdrive do you have. I had an old Volvo Penta that had a similar problem. It used a screw to raide the drive and the relay that ran it was partially burned out. Replaced it and everything worked just fine.

Go find someone who knows those units well. If in doubt, don't do won't it doesn't seem to want too. Some guys at boat sales and service might help, some won't unless they get paid too much for too little.

sounds like the relay on the hydrolic pump is out or the wires on the pump motor are loose and not making connection... good luck

get a new boat motor
