I've swum after adding muriatic acid to my pool. Your eyes might sting a little. I'd wait till 6-12 hours for worry free results

If you mean muriatic (hydrochloric) acid, the answer is nope it isn't harmful. Even if the pool water was completely pure, the lowest the pH could be would be about 5. That's only about as acidic as apple juice. There's probably enough organic waste in the water to completely react with and absorb the acid.

if you take a sample of the water to any nearby pool place theyll do a test for free and be able to tell you exactly what chemicals you need to balance the ph, etc.
