Nicole Richie was adopted by Lionel and his now ex-wife, Brenda Harvey-Richie. Her biological father is Peter Michael Escovedo, who used to work in Lionel's band. She is of Caucasian, Black Creole, and Mexican decent.

She was adopted by Lionel Ritchie and his former wife when she was very young. Both her biological parents worked for Lionel Ritchie. However she stays in contact with her biological mother, but not her father even though she knows who he is. As for her racial background, Nicole is in fact 100% AFRICAN AMERICAN as she famously reported in an early Simple Life interview. I also have her book, The Truth About Diamonds and am a HUGE fan!!!!Yes she could stand to gain some weight but she is a beautiful woman!!!!

she's mixed race (caucasian and hispanic, i think...) and her adoptive father is lionel. why do you care, anyhow?
