My son has been doing swimming lessons since the age of 3 months he is now two. Babies don't SWIM if put in the water but they will float to the top. It's not something i would suggest trying in a backyard pool. They can't save themselves from drowning their head just pops out of the water then if not grabbed quickly enough they will go back under. I think that all babies and children should be enrolled in swimming!!!!

NO NO NO they float and if they flip they'll drowned
I agree if you want them to swim take a class with supervision and never go swimming with just you and the baby make sure there are other people around for safety purposes

Yes but I would not try it unless you are in a special class for infant swimming. There have been a lot of infants that have drowned when their parents kept them swimming too long.

I bet they could but it doesn't sound safe. A baby could just as easily drown.

They have to learn like everything else. Do you take a book, shove it in their faces and expect them to read it perfectly? NO!

They can swim, it's just that they can't hold their breath so they will drown.
