with proper medication, by staying out of infection, by staying out of the sun, not forgetting your corticosteroids, staying stress-free, drinking lots of water to protect your kidneys, not feeling bad even if you gain a bit of wait caused by the meds you are taking, you will live a normal life..two of my family members have that, and it is not big problem unless they experience this pain again..SLE is a rheumatic problem..just stay out of the sun beacuse SLE patients are photosensitive.. sun exposure may cause exacerbation..one factor is also stress, please stay out of stress..just like the sun, this may also cause you health problems..if you stay out of infection and people with infections, coz you are a bit sensitive to these, you can live many, many long years..

I have a friend that had lupus and she lost the use of her kidneys. She was on that damn machine three times a day and we were all quietly waiting for her to die. She looked awful. Gray and puffy and dead.
Then one day a perfect stranger offered her a kidney! Right out of the blue. We had all been tested with no match found and this stranger was a perfect match! My friend is now lupus free and leading an active, fun filled, busy life.Take care of yourself and keep the faith.
peace.

I know a woman who has lived with lupus for 20 years, and is doing very well. She was my weight watcher's leader for a while, and was a real inspiration to me - she was even able to lose a lot of weight with the lupus! If you take good care of yourself, research the disease, and consult with your doctor and other people with the disease, maybe join a support group, there is no reason why you shouldn't live a full and happy life.

Ask your doctor - he/she knows best anyway. But my friend has lupus, and when we were on this bus ride during the night and people flashed cameras, her head started bleeding. It was really weird- does that happen to you?

You probably will not die from it. I have it, and have for some time, and I'm fine. Just get treated and stay on any medicine that's given.

Both good sites, lots of info.

Good luck, good health
