this is a puzzle.can you solve it?i live in water.if you cut my head,i am at your door.if you cut my tail,i am a fruit.if you cut both,then i am with you.what am i.or,what is it?

It's a Pearl.
Pearls are found in water.
Take off the "P" and you have "Earl," a man who could be a your door.
Take off the "l" and you have "Pear," a fruit.
Take off both and you have "ear" which is always with you (on your head).
