Maybe it has something to do with dehydration, or maybe some chemicals are released that are like anti-histamines that dry your eyes up.
I think it is the latter. But it's just a guess.

could be a chemical reaction between the tears and sweat...or makeup.
don't wipe at your eyes with your hand...that just makes it worse. try washing your face after crying instead.
