Well...rather than trying to make her, why don't you ask her real sweet. First tell her how much you love and respect her then do something nice for her, best would be something she has been trying to get you to do. Then explain calmly and nicely how badly you need it and how diligently you will take care of it. A laptop is a pretty big investment for almost anybody, she also needs to know that you will use it properly.

By showing her this question you just ask. She will look and say is that the best you can spell and even with a spell check. I am quite sure upon her seeing this you will surely get her to "by" you a laptop since you so obviously need some kind of help.

Show your mother how responsible you can be, by taking care of other expensive gifts that she has given you. You can also tell, and show her the benefits of you having a laptop, such as completion of homework assignments faster, Internet availability for you if the home computer is constantly in use and easier storage and also it's transportability (unlike the home desktop).Make her aware of the fact that she can use and benefit from it too!

Maybe do some household chores, this way you can earn $$. Perhaps if you ask her if she pays 1/2, you pay 1/2, then earn your half by helping her around the house. Or if you are old enough, get a job and earn your half.

Show her you're very responsible and be extra polite. Don't make her ask you twice to do stuff and perform (not so) random acts of kindness. The little stuff usually seems to work for me!

prove a need for it and prove you've earned it.... or just pay for it yourself. They start in the 500's these days, anyone can make that lawn mowing or baby sitting in a few months.
