Bishops can move back and forth across the board diagonally until it encouters an obstruction on their own color only. There's not a limitation beyond that. If he doesn't believe you then bring him to yahoo chess and let the computer show him what moves can and can't be made.

all pieces in chess can move forward and backwards.
pawns ( are not considered pieces ) can only move forward and when they reach the eighth row, they can become any other piece except the king, most people pick the queen but on certain times a rook, bishop, knight might be more important and yes you can HAVE MORE THAN ONE QUEEN AT A TIME. if all 8 pawns reach the 8th row, you would then have 9 queens

Yes! The bishop can move both forwards and backwards & only diagonal! The White Bishop stays only on white squares and the black Bishop stays only on black squares!

The bishop can move freely throughout the game forward and backward . If ya have any doubts just try it on any online chess game or computer chess.

u CAN go back toward ur own side of the board. bishops can move ANYWHERE in a diagonal line. whoever said that is a liar, or just trying to get u to believe it so you would lose. come back. and kick his butt!!! lol
