I haven't gone to a doctor or anything yet. My mom says to try and wait it out and see if I can help it on my own. Using the heating pad is working well and I'm just wondering if there is any other at home treatment I could try. I'd also like to try some stretches and exercises to help it along. Is there anything I could do that isn't too strenuous and isn't going to cause any damage to my nerve?

try laying down and stretching your legs straight while lifting them up. also put one leg across the other and try lifting them both and holding it for as long as u can then switch legs you can also put a pillow under your bottom and lay on it u can also put a pillow between your legs while sleeping or lying down if u have any sharp intense pains u should stand up quickly and place your feet flat on the floor

actually my doctor has me use ice not heat. On the lower vertabrae on the spinal column NOT the leg.
The best thing is rest and take some antiinflamatories...which is aspirin is one of the best if your stomach will tolerate it. Use the coated ones they are better for your stomach. I have the same problem and they may do a ton of tests on you but they rarely do anything but prescribe antinflamatories. Surgury is the last resort. My son has a full blown disk and he was doing some of that therapy where you hang up side down on an incline table to let the gravity pull the disks back the other way and it really worked for him. Exercising while your in the heat of the pain of it pinching isn't the greatest. Oh do some stretching but you could inflame it more and your trying to get it unflamed so you can have a life. I wish your mother would take you in and get you a prescription for the antiinflamatories. You can refuse futher testing but you really should be on professional medicine and care.

Move to Canada and bask in the glorious National Healthcare. You should really see a doctor if you have a pinched nerve, it's a very serious condition.
