go to www.pcworld.com and download zone alarm firewall for free.it is much better than the 1 that comes with pc.

Usually Windows XP has a firewall already in it, when you have Service Pack 2, go to Control panel, security Center and the WIndows Firewall is there, and automatically on.
While Windows Firewall is good, it may be weak when it is not updated, and still weak even when updated. So maybe ZoneAlarm or McAfee Firewall Plus can help you. When you have ZoneAlarm or other firewall installed, make sure you turn the Windows Firewall off first or they will conflict.
