I just wanted to know if you can still receive quality sound from an electric guitar without the usage of an amp.

The best overall sound you are going to get from an unplugged electric guitar is going to come from an acoustic/electric, or a jazz/ hollowbody guitar. I usually play my stratocaster unpluged, but that's mainly to keep the noise complaints down!

Yes you can get sound out of your guitar without it being plugged in, but you are obviously not going to get the same result. It is a good way to practice and in some ways not having the amplification will make you play things cleaner (with distortion covering up some mistakes).

Well...that's the difference between electric and acoustic. You NEED an amp to properly play an electric guitar, unless you're just sitting at home strumming in front of the idiot box.
The only RECORDED example I can think of of an unplugged electric guitar (as I recall it was a hollowbody Gibson, to be fair) is on "The Rain Song" by Led Zeppelin. Jimmy Page played the main rhythm on an unplugged electric, for reasons most likely lost to copious amounts of booze and drugs...

You can play it but it won't project much sound if it's a solid body electric guitar. Acoustic-electric yes, solid body electric, no.

Yes, especially if it's a hollow body electric, but it will not be very loud.

This is good for practice.
