I've read at least half the books on that list. Some may not be appropriate for young, developing minds, but banned - nah. If any of these books were truly banned, you couldn't buy them. This ain't Germany, yet.

Any book that glorifies rape, murder, genocide, incest, and slavery (all in the same book) should be banned. The Bible is a good example.
Canada has limitations on incoming books and materials that make sense. The US ought to take note because of the similarity of societies and the fact that the Canadian laws work.
Essentially, if the material advocates or promotes violence or hate against a specific group or groups of people, it can be banned. It can contain depictions of violence or hate, just not promote them. Also, certain extreme acts of violence or sex in pornography can be banned.
Unlike several US laws on "obscene material" which have been struck down for being too vague, the Canadian laws are explicit on what is and isn't allowed. Consequently, we've had few controversies over borderline material.

If the book infringes on the freedom of that society.
You should question everything until you get the absolute truth.
You should be able to look at anything you want as long as rights and laws aren't broken.
Majority rules and you have to look at the big picture, some pornography crosses the line, like child porn.
you should be able to express yourself in what ever manner you choose, but the real question is how far should you go with your freedom to offend.

To my opinion every book that involves a religion or culture should be banned. Because In real life there is no gods and no devils of any type. The belief that led to all that was based upon those books of lies and mind manipulation. the only reason that religions were started, were by people who were power hungry, and can make up anything and fill the citizens of there society with lies, in which they claim to speak for the gods. A change in the world needs to be made, starting with beliefs, in which the certain books obtain. we need to put an end to religion, and start looking at the facts that scientific research offers.

We live in a free society in a free country. As such we also have the freedom to vote as a community. Sometimes the community disagrees with an individual and they pass laws based on the freedom to pass laws that the majority of a community want.

It's a good point you make. Freedom to be unpopular is a right too.
However, if a written work presents libelous statements against someone else, then the "bannable" issue is one that lawyers might take up.

No! Never. No book should be banned ever.
Drugs need to be legalized, so does prostitution. IN a free country, you can't ban stuff like that. Drugs & prostitution are victimless 'crimes'.
Oh, and if the Xian freaks can't take Jesus bashing, read the bible for the most horrid truth of them all, where Jesus tells his disciples to hate their entire families or he'll shun them. *Luke 14:26*

No book should be banned in this country. That's completely against free speech, except books of photography that are of molestation of children or animals. That's sick and those people should be shot in the head on site, both the people that make it and own it. They are not worthy of having life.

No book should ever be banned. In fact, I often refer to the banned book lists when I'm looking for something new to read.

The fact that censorship exists proves the USA is not a free society. "Where's Waldo" does not even have words. Some of my favorite books that I learned lessons and values from are on that list.
