President Carter was a good man, bad president. He should have taken out the Iranian government and any US loss of civilian life would have been simply collateral damage. I would have died for that cause rather than let it fester like it did. Carter also had high unemployment rates, a stagnant economy and double digit inflation.

Seriously do you people even know your history, or do you just buy what everyone tells you on TV. Oh we all hate the current president, he must be the worst.. Dan Rather told me so!

If you look at the list of presidents you will see things. Look at the presidents during war periods, they all have low ratings. Recently, take a look at Jimmy carter, or Herbert Hoover. How about Andrew Johnson who was IMPEACHED for overriding Tenure laws. Granted the law was found unconstitutional in later years, but you have to consider the whole history, not just what you have heard on the evening news.

Netjr that was hillarious! Carter yes was one of the best men & very worst Presidents (and doesn't know how to stop even now). Harding & Hoover were terrible!!! How about great general horrible President Grant, or really anybody during reconstruction. Nobody for Nixon? or Ford that replaced him? I don't care how much you hate Bush, there's no actual decision or policy of his you can list that compares to a dozen other past Presidents.

Theorder Roosevelt said it best;

Teddy (Roosevelt) was waiting at the pearly gates for Jimmy Carter. He wanted to welcome him to his new home. And to try and make some small talk he asked how was it running the country in the late 70's an era Teddy couldn't even imagine. How was the economy asked Teddy;

Well Jimmy Carter said inflation was in double digits, interest rates exceeded 20% and we we're in a pretty bad way of it; and Teddy replied oh, but you kept up the military right especially the Marines...Jimmy just kind of said ...yeah sort of.

Teddy shrugged it off and asked what major events occured during Jimmy's time, and Jimmy had to bring up the Iranian hostage crisis to which Teddy shouted...did you send in the Marines...and Jimmy said, sort of but they kind of crashed and burned in the desert and Teddy shrugged in wonder;

And Jimmy went on to say the Russians invaded Afghanistan in what appeared to be a measure to expand communism into the middle east and Teddy quickly said, "did you send in the Marines" to which Jimmy said no; we boycotted the olympics and stop selling them grains.

Hmmm Teddy thought; next thing your going to tell me is you gave away the Panama Canal?

I would like to support the first answerer, however it's a close thing with Nixon. Another Republican I might add. This man was a moral crusader but had no compunction when it came to lying and breaking the law to suit his own ends. Maybe there are similarities with Bush.

George W. Bush because of his impatience and not thinking things through. I agreed with the war in Afghanistan but we should have held off on invading Iraq until we had more info on the situation. Now we have a situation with Iran.
