No. It is called the cooling down period. It gives you time to get over the anger issues and be certain that you want to go through with the divorce.

No, there is no way to get around the waiting period. In the state of California...the minimum amount of time between the date of filing and the date of finalization is 6 months and 1 day. Even in uncontested divorces, you must wait until 6 months and 1 day from the date of the original filing to be considered legally divorce. If the divorce was contested, property and debt division, child custody, support, etc. are issues in the divorce...then chances are you will have to wait even longer. So...no, you have no option of decreasing the minimum time frame.
shoshidad is correct regarding the beginning of the time frame starting from the date of actual service of the petition on the other party. That ought to teach me to slow down when typing. Thanks shoshidad. :o)

The minimum time from service of the petition to termination of the marriage is six months. Please note the time starts when the petition is served, not when the action was filed. Also note that the termination is not automatic, a dissolution judgment must be presented to the court. If the judgment is presented after the six months have run, the termination of marriage will be on the date the judgment is filed, it will not be backdated to the earlier six-months date.

Maybe you should check to see if there are states who don't go by this and get married there! I think the person who said Vegas has a great idea for starters! You can see if there is a state closer to you that doesn't have that law.
