Quite frankly, it's not your problem. I know you want to help, but your friend needs to be responsible for his/her actions. Tell your friend what you think, and urge him/her to be honest with the doctor. If he/she isn't honest, then he/she will suffer the consequences and it won't be your fault.

Ouch! This is a real conundrum. And good for you for caring so much!
There is a good chance the doctor will recognize what's going on -- the medics who specialize in this type of operation have been around the blocks a couple of times and can likely recognize the symptoms of whast is happening. My neice had a gastric bypass. She was morbidly obese (but not bulemic) and it did take the weight off, but the results she has had to live with are not pleasant. Like having the trots for the rest of her life, lots of trouble with gas, etc.etc.
About all you can do is keep telling your friend to be honest with her doctor and hope she listens to you.

How do you know what this person is saying to the doctor?
How do you know that the doctor isn't fooled at all and actually sees the situation from a medical and psychiatric perspective that you can't possibly understand?
Don't you think the doctor has "seen it all before" and knows how to screen for fake claims? Yes, some people are clever enough to get what they want from the medical system, but it's a tiny, tiny number.
Feel free to call the doctor and share your concerns - or send an anonymous letter, if you would rather. The doctor can then take your information under consideration.
But I think you should mind your own business, unless you have a smoking gun.

Unfortunately, there's really nothing you can do. You're right - that persons decisions are that person's. He or she is making decisions that affect their health. You are not responsible.
That person is ultimately only hurting themselves. I have seen person after person eat themselves right out of the surgery. They don't comprehend that the stomach will stretch again if they don't change their eating habits. They'll be limited, but can add a little more over a period of time and eventually be right back in the place they were in before. Also, if he/she doesn't modify the KINDS of foods they eat, the surgery will be useless. Sodas and juices are common ways for people to negate the effects of the surgery.
I wouldn't worry about it. He/she will find the surgery ineffective and then not be able to get it again and it will be no one's fault but their own.

it would be unhealthy for them to get the proceedure and could possible kill them - you need to write a confidential letter to the doctor detailing the events youa re aware of - you can do so without signing - sign it a concerned friend of the patient - you can mail it or deliver it - make sure the doctor sees it - if you are worried that will not work you can make an appt to speak tot he dr and explain your concerns to them - without your friend knowing it was you who went. there are serious complications with the proceedure and the ways the person MUST eat afterwards in order to survive!! make sure the dr knows the truth - your friends life may depend on it.
PS most of the time the person must undergo a psycho eval before the exam - not sure if your friend did this

There is nothing you can do for your friend but be there when he/she needs to talk.
The doctor normally puts a person on a diet and exercise regimen for at least six months. This is done to determine the person's self-discipline. After surgery, one has to eat differently. Falling back into the old patterns can cause serious health problems.
If your friend doesn't follow the doctor's rules during those six months, the surgery will not be done.

Gastric Bypass and Lap Band Surgery(all types of bariatric surgery) is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges obesity surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.I have also read that they arrange financing for international patients as obesity surgery is not covered by insurance or by the stinking NHS.
They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your lobesity surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star .
My cousin got her gastric bypass done there and she is more than very happy with the results. She is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company. She paid just 30% of the cost what she was quoted in USA and it was like a wonderful vacation for her. she has alsready lost 35lbs in 5 months .hope this helps

Well, any type of lying to the doctor could hurt this person in the long run as far as aftercare and so on..
let this person know how you feel and that's all you can really do unless you call the Dr. yourself but if he/she is old enough to have the surgery he/she is old enough to make decisions on his/her own. you can't control everything.

if you see a doctor about it you can't really lie to them because they can see the inflamation of the glands on the sides of bulemic ppl's throat, so don't worry

OKAY GURL, U NEED TO LET SOMEONE KNOW THA THIS PERSON IS A BULEMIC. GASTIRC BYPASS IS FOR PEOPLE WHO JUST CANT LOSE WEIGTH PHYSICALLY i THINK. I THINK THAT MANY PEOPLE LIE TO GET IT BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO LAZY TO LOSE THE WEIGHT THEMSELVES. HARD WORK PAYS OFF BETTER BECAUSE YOU ARE ABLE TO SEE WHAT U'VE WORKED FOR.
