It's probably difficult to understand where your friend is coming from but at least try to listen and then maybe question why you need to stay away. If this group of people is a bad news bunch then you should be able to pick up on that and be smart about it.

Well, im someone's best friend and i told her to stay away from a group. she didnt listen to me and it led to fighting. while she fought, we convinced our parents that the other person was bad news. we finally settled it after 3 weeks of fighting and harsh name-calling. but now we cant see each other because our parents still think were bad news! it sucks! we were only allowed to hang out during school and school is out! i'd stay away from the group because it will all lead to this. just like it did for me when my best friend went into a bad group!!!!

I would take his or her info under advisement. Have you heard these things form others? Sometimes a best friend doesn't want to loose that status, so maybe ask for some proof. I hate to say go ahead and befriend them, it seems to me that it could just be a lot of hype. What kind of impression do you get from them? If you do find them to be unsavory after hanging out awhile, then ditch them. And chalk it up to "I told you so."

It's good to give credit to friends. However, it's a matter of personal choice. It's best to get to know people before you judge them. However, our sixth sense sometimes let's us know how others are.
You could always ask more people that know this group and see what they say. Take a consensus of opinion.

I would go with your best friend. I've been in many situations where I've seen the 'bad' croud turn people into another one of them.
Listen to your best frined, you know they wouldn't try to cause you any harm, and the usualy knwo what is best for you.
I am no longer friends with one of my past best friends, she started hanging out with the 'bad' croud, and now shes starting to act like them...
Such a shame.. she was a great, talented, smart person too...

Ask him/her why they are so bad and, based on what she said, stay away from them if the reasons given are credible. If they are stupid reasons, no, I would not stay away from them unless I found out they were bad for myself. Hope this helps!!

I would listen to my bestfriend because she doesn't want you to get involved in dangerous situations.
