IMHO, it depends upon the intent of the parties. If the person doing the flirting intends it to be innocent, then chances are it is. Since "intent" is difficult to assess, it's easy for the person on the recieving end to misinterpret what might be intended as "innocent" flirting.

Yes. It's tricky. The trick is that it is really not meant to be enticing or suggestive of any real interest at getting closer. If any of the two parties is likely to be interested, he or she would not be flirting innocently. If he or she are not interested but think that the other may be, it is not innocent either. It is only innocent if clearly no one might mean more by it.

Yes. Flirting is one way of breaking the ice with new people. How do you think sales people make sales. Customer service at restaurants sometimes includes "innocent flirting" it all depends on the way it is received and reacted to whether it is innocent or not.

it all depends on what you consider innocent flirting. maybe the other person nor yourself are innocent? do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend? husband or wife? or are you very young? single to mingle and all that comes along with that. when you first meet someone you do flirt getting to know each other. however, if your flirting just to flirt there is an old saying. be carefully what you wish for, for you may just get it. id dislike to see anyone get hurt. if you know the other person is single and you are to there may be just cause to flirt. good-luck

That's a very tricky qestion. One person may think it's innocent and leading no where, while the other party involved could take things in a whole different way. Everyone perceives things differently.

Yes. As long as the flirting is kept to a minimum and there's no heavy touching involved and there are no hidden agendas, then it's "innocent flirting".

If your both single and depends how it's done... Doing it innocently makes it innocent.... If you don't do it innocently then it's not innocent. This might not make since to others but in my mind it does HAHAHA

Witty, casual verbal sparring is innocent. Loaded phrases with sexual overtones are not. Single or not, flirting implies interest so it would be hard to not read into it.
