1. Put the hamster somewhere safe while you clean it's cage. Those plastic hamster balls are entertaining and safe for limited amounts of time. Make sure the top is screwed on so your little guy doesn't get away. If you don't have a ball, then you may be able to use your bathtub. (Make sure it is absolutely dry and that there are no towels it can climb up and get away from.)
2. Remove all toys, litter boxes, food containers, etc. from the cage. Empty cage of all bedding (the soft stuff you line the cage with). Some hamsters freak if you remove their food supplies, which can sometimes make this part difficult. If your hamster is sensitive to this (usually young hamsters or ones who are new to their owner/cage), remove soiled bedding and work around the various food stashes your hamster may have, leaving them intact. Replace the empty space with fresh bedding. Leave enough so that it can make a mound to sleep in but not so much that it gets in the way.
If your hamster is NOT sensitive to the condition of its food stashes, then just dump all the bedding in the garbage. Rinse out the bottom part of the cage with a hose and mild, preferably unscented soap and try to remove all the dried urine that probably there. Towel dry.
3. Fill the bottom with fresh bedding
4. Put cage back together
5. Replace any items you removed during cleaning process
6. Replace hamster into cage gently
I hope this helps!!

1) put the hamster in something else while you clean the cage. Then take the tank outside and remove the water bottle, food dish, toys, etc.
2) then dump the shavings in a garbage bag.
3)use the hose and some Windex and clean the tank out. Then let it sit in the sun for 15 minutes.
4)next make sure you wipe it until the tank is dry or else it could make the hamsters sick.
5) now that the tank is dry put some shavings in there and put back the toys, and food dish, etc.
6) now put the hamster back in the cage and your done.

Take the hamster out of the cage and put him/her in a place where he/she can't get out. Then, depending on if it is a plastic cage or not, remove all the paper, wood chips or whatever you are using as bedding and throw it away. If plastic, wash the entire thing in hot water and soap with a scrubby type dish brush, and dry it out completely. Then, shred new paper or put in wood chips where you did before, change out the water and food dishes and make sure you wash them before putting in new food and water, then put your little one back in and watch him/her move it all around. If metal, just hose off the bottom part of the cage and let it dry before you do the rest of it. Good luck!!
