I think it is digusting that our newspapers and news stations keep showing a picture of a dead man. I get that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was a horrible person but I think it is wrong to continue (or at all) displaying him like some trophy. Can you imagine if a news channel was showing dead marines? I know it's not the same in most peoples eyes but I really don't enjoy seeing anyone who is dead.

I guess I just don't want to see ANYONE's picture if your dead. I know it's done and has been done. I just wondered if it bothered other people to turn on your tv and see dead people all the time. I'm fed up.

Yes I think it's really weird, like propganda because when al-quaida does the same thing then Bush goes nuts, I don't really understand everything that is going on but it's a person and we shouldn't be "excited" that he's dead because somewhere out there people are hurting from his death and that will probably come back to haunt us.

I study forensics so this does not bother me. However, I do not like the idea of someone who is being displayed over and over again. Once is good for most of the world, the media does not see it that way though and, since it was a major capture and kill, it will continue to go on about it for some time to come. As an example, how many times did you see Marcos capture and return to the states when that happened? Not to mention all the crap that followed which I could have cared less about. Media is media and is only providing what the public wants. I am afraid you either need to get used to it, or turn off the TV and throw away the paper. Good luck!!

Because Bush needs to keep this issue alive
because the Americans have the attention span
of an ant...won't be long (1-2 days) before the
Americans yawn...and say Zarquawi who?

Stuff like this interests Americans,
"Hey just what is Britney up to these days?
When does American Idol come back on?"

Not Bush holding up a dead picture as his trophy
proclaiming he's won the war on terror....

It brings in the ratings. News shows always show the horrible stuff because that's what people want to watch so they can tell themselves "Well, someone else is worse off than I am." It's the same reason people gawk at traffic accidents and watch car chases on TV. Personally, I have better things to do with my time.

yes for a so called morally superior christian nation we have become what we claim to deplore. what we see is a side of ourselves that reveals that we are just as bloodthirsty and revengeful as any muslim terrorist we criticize as an extremist. mortal combat has been a part of human history since cain&able. the difference between civilized people and barbarians is how they respond to conflict. civilized people neutralize aggression, but dont bask in the blood of their enemies. barbarians on the other hand dance by the camp fire with the heads of their enemies. what this all reveals is that the u.s. is a barbaric society far from the principles that we claim to have!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it's wrong to call that pile of dung a person.

But yeah, it is kind of disgusting.

The news channels do show shots like that of our people dead. Remember the bodies being pulled from the Oklahoma City bombing, for example?

I normally don't like viewing something like that, but people are already demanding proof that he really is dead.

They do it all the time in Iraq and surrounding countries. Their sensibilities are different than ours. Without a picture, people there would not believe he was dead.

We would believe it, because we hold our press accountable (at least our main stream press.) I don't think the pictures are being displayed for our benefit, here.

That is so weird I was saying the same thing to myself when I was reading the newspaper online this afternoon. I feel that since this is war that they have glorify and romanticize the concept of victory.

No, but his face did look in pretty good condition for being in a house on which two 500 pound bombs were dropped.
