Ok what megan_tara04 said is so not true, Clearwater is not full of rich snobby assholes, I used to live there and I am far from being rich and snobby.
Anyway I lived in both Clearwater and Tampa, and both are wonderful places to live, but thought that Lutz (north Tampa) is gorgeous, of all the places I lived it had the least amount of crime, great schools, friendly neighbors. I lived in Calusa Trace, which has houses of all sizes, in the neighborhood, apartments, and an elementary school Schwarzkopf Elementary. But all neighborhood's in that area are great.
Hope where ever you you chose you enjoy it, and Good Luck!!!

Well you might want to consider evacuations living in St. Pete or Clearwater. Basically all of Pinellas County. I live in North Tampa, in Carrollwood, and it is nice here. I would much rather live in south Tampa, cuz it is so cool, but again you have that problem with water...

New Tampa is growing like crazy, but you couldn't pay me to live there. It just seems so disconnected to me. Personally I would prefer living on some serious acreage with no neighbors, but Florida has been overrun with developers, and that has driven the price to astronomical heights. Don't get me started.

I am a Florida native and am sick of my state being over-developed. Remember Tampa, or St. Pete has some serious pullyourhairout traffic. So be ready for that.

I really think you should find a good job and then find the closest good area or neighborhood from there. The traffic is horrible so you don't want t o have to drive a lot. There are some good neighborhoods all over the Bay area.

How much can you spend? There are neighborhoods where the cheapest place is $700,000. Do you want a gated community, something near the water, etc.
