Why does England, Ireland and Scotland compete in the FIFA World Cup as different nations while in the Olympics, they compete as the Great Britain? Can someone please elaborate?

World cup- England nth. ireland,scotland and wales each fielded thier own teams in the cup.All were eliminated in the preliminary rounds except england.These countries also field separate teams in,cricket trugby and at commonwealth games.The olympics are held for all of the nations.Neither england, scotland, wales or nth ireland are a nation so they have compete as grt britain.One country.For example before the unification of germany both fielded separate teams in internatonal competions

Ireland doesn't compete as great Britain in anything, not even hopscotch,northern Ireland does because they whipped by the crown

Great Britain is a combination of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and some other puny countries over there. idk why they compete as seperate countries.
