I know they go and pretend to be a normal guest and write a report to improve the hotel goods and service? Is that under a mystery shopper, too? How can I apply?

The hotel I work at is franchised and they have their own inspectors. I work for a Cendant property which owns about 10 different franchises. These inspectors are highly trained--they know what to look for in each room, they are not just another guest checking to see if the desk clerk is nice and the bed is made. They also check our fire inspection records, pool records, guest responses through internet and comment cards...these are things that a secret shopper would not have access to. In order to get a job like this you would need to apply at a specific franchise's corporate headquarters and more than likely you would need to have a college education in the hotel industry.

It's a mystery shopper. Check out volition.com and see which company does hotels and apply. I noticed only one company so far and it wasn't four star hotels. Good luck.
