Probably the crunching of resources to the point that conflicts become much more open. The american way of life is very eccletic and seems to envelope everything around it pretty successfully. The problem is this way of life tends to dry a lot of things up resources wise. When food, fuel, clean air and water and so on become tougher to find, it will probably begin to cause serious problems for the american way of life.
