You have to check the charging system. These are the components.
Battery
Regulator
Rectifier
Stator
There's a different way to test each. Contact me If you need details. But before you do, you'll need a "multi-meter". A quick test to see if the charging system works. Attach a volt meter to the (+)and(-) terminals of the battery and rev the motor. The voltage should go to at least 14 volts.

Don't forget about the regulator. Does the battery go dead after the bike has been running? If it does, then I would test the stator output.
