also, a "utility SPOT" in fantasy baseball refers to a spot in which you can stick ANY player that plays ANY position. Normally you can only place a player in a slot that he actually plays. I play in leagues that have 3 or 4 utility slots, which is fun! All the above answers are 100% correct

it usually reffers to a substitute player [ someone who "plays off the bench"] that can fill in at many possitions[ usually not picher and or catcher.. but on rare occations you may even see that] usually infiel and out field. agood utillity man is a nice luxuray on any team.
