I believe it is possible but the odds are against it. Call planned parenthood, They have a panphlet and it says that nursing babies is like birth control for like 5-6 months. So it'll be hard to conceive during this time but there are those 1 in whatever-it-is exceptions to the rule.

If you get your period back and even if you don't yes it is possible. But it is harder. (I am trying the same thing) Because of the fact that you are nursing, it is causing your body to withhold or delay ovulation, which means that you might have a regular period or have one every two to three months. It is still possible to get pregnant while nursing but it can be difficult to achieve. The best way to help it is to track your cycle using the Ovulation Method (Checking your cervical mucus) or the Basal Method( Body temperature)

It all depends on if you've gotten your period yet since you had your son. A lot of breastfeeding women don't get their periods for awhile. My son was 10 months before I got mine. If you've gotten it, then you are ovulating again. It is very possible to continue breastfeeding throughout your pregnancy, and even tandem nurse if you're interested in that. Some women do however get pregnant even though they haven't gotten their periods, it's just not as common. God Bless

What I think you are referring to is an old wives' tale. Believe me, you can still get pregnant while still nursing.
However, depending upon how old your son is, you may not yet be ovulating after the pregnancy.
