There is no such item as an "official" kamaaina card. On the other hand, military bases have been known to distribute discount cards as "kamaaina cards".
Kamaaina is Hawaiian for "local." Since Hawaii has such a tourist based economy, often local residence receive a better price. This is especially true for tourist attractions. Military personnel assigned to Hawaii, are eligible to get the local rate but they need a "Kamaiina card" to do so. As a military resident, the card can typically be picked up at the base security or administrative office. The discounts are usually not advertised, but are often available. Most often, flashing one's military ID Card is acceptable. Golf courses here often provide larger discounts to military personnel than to us locals!
Local residents must present a photo identification card, or equivalent, to those establishments that honor local discounts.
