One of my best friends is a self described tree hugger, long haired, 60's left over. While we have a great many debates over our different political views, he is nonetheless a very bright person.
He also admits however that liberals have a propensity for being great thinkers but when it comes down to the actual doing part, they suck. It's protest this and protest that but they can never seem to come together in a cohesive group to actually accomplish something.
I would have to agree from my experience in working with both liberals and conservatives. If you want to have a good time sitting around and day dreaming about what might be - find a liberal. If you actually want ot get your hands dirty and accomplish something (like win a war) find a conservative.
They are not stupid, but it is hard to prove by just looking at their actions.
shoshidad- you are laughing as you type all that self serving, biased, pack of bullsh*t I hope. Get educated and then get real.

No. Liberals have been the ones who over the decades have moved the US forward. Liberals won the Civil War. Liberals got the anti-trust laws passed. Liberals got us out of the depression. Liberals got the US ready for WWII. ILiberals fought the Cold War. (Regan just had the dumb luck to be there at the end.) It was, unfortunately, liberals who got the US into Vietnam (Republicans bugged out). Liberals who got civil rights laws passed, social security, and every other law that moved the country forward. Conservatives and Neo-cons have tried to keep the US in a dream of what circa 1930 was like for the wealthy.

yes i am for answering this question and only half of me is liberal the other half is conservative. so the stupid half is talking now i guess. We have a constitution we have ignored it before and we have even omitted an amendment13th i think but never before have we granted such liberal rules as the patriot act .you might as well have declared the president king. We need this rule gone before we get a smart guy in there who can take advantage of the powers it grants like by all means necessary i am shocked to see this in writting.i am liberal but these republicans have gone nuts .in all my wildest dreams i wouuld have never thought that would fly now all we need is a guy like willie nelson to come along and by all means necessary start selling drugs to fund the war. we just need the right liberal now so we can get things done finaly
Leave it to those crasy liberal republicans to come up with the pefect law to fix everthing.

One thing I've learned, liberals are NOT stupid. In fact, liberals and conservatives share many of the same concerns; sometimes they even share the same solutions to those concerns, but they disagree on a) the implementation of those solutions, b) who should administer those solutions, and c) who should pay for those solutions.
I have labeled myself a conservative for most of my adult life, and I've had the pleasure of talking with and debating with a liberal who has helped me see things from their point of view, and I have a great deal of love, respect and admiration for that person.
I think a great many people who label themselves either "conservative" or "liberal" spout off the "talking points" that help them justify their preconceived positions. I challenge all on "both sides" to join me and doubt a little of themselves, and try to see the other side. You may or may not agree with them, but at least try to see where they're coming from. Whatever side you're on, chances are the other side will contain both intelligent people and not-so-intelligent people. I don't think ideology makes one smart or stupid.

No. It's statistically proven that the average Conservative has a lower level of education than the average Liberal. You learn that in Political Science 101. But oh yeah, you probably didn't go to college, so you wouldn't know that.

Not all of them. Personally, I'm the only conservative in my family- as in parents, brothers, aunts and uncles, etc. The rest are all liberals, yet they are all intelligent and well educated people.
For some reason, though, they aren't wired right when it comes to politics. Get them started on anything that even rhymes with Bush, and they turn into raving lunatics.
Meanwhile, I am hiding in my conservative closet so they won't disown me, my independent husband, or fellow Republican son.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
Mine is that conservatives have a metal rod shoved so far up their a$$ that it affects the way they think.
It doesn't necessarily mean an individual or even a group of people is "stupid". It's just their opinion.
Someone once told me:
"Opinions are like a$$ holes, everyone has them and they all stink."

Not really. They are just trying to make up for their former judgements and meanness by being "too" politically correct". They don't think of long term consequences of being too liberal.
