1. 16 divided by 38= .421 or you can reduce the fraction by dividing each of the numbers by 2, so the fraction can be reduced to 8/19.
2. 63/70, to get this answer 9 x 7 = 63. 10 x7= 70
3. the denonimator needs to 72, so you need to make each fraction have a 72 as the denonminator. 12(5/6)= 60/72, 4(7/18)= 28/72. 8(5/9)= 40/72. 60/72+ 28/72+ 40/72= 168/72. can be reduced to 2.333, by dividing 168 by 72.
4. add 6 and 4 to equal 10, then add 1 and 3 to equal 4 over the 8, answer: 10 4/8, 0r 10 1/2 when reducing the 4/8.
5. make 14 3/8 to 13 13/8, then subtract 10 from 13 to equal 3. then subtract 13/8 - 5/8 to equal 8/ 8 or 1. then 3 +1 = 4,so the answer is 4.
6 4/2= 2, 17 x 2 = 34.
7. unable to reduce this further.
hope this makes sense to you.

16/38 = 8/19 =0.424
( 8/19 is 16/38 in its lowest term, this is because both 16 and 38 are divisible by 2) as a decimal the patter 424 should repeat itself but use a calculator to check the answer.
To change a faction to a decimal divide the numerator by the denominator, in this case divde 16 by 38, or 8 by 19.

5/6, 7/18, 5/9, 2/72

Solution
I am not quite sure what you wanted to do with this question so I did a number of things with it.
The fracions in the lowest erms can be written as 5/6, 7/18, 5/9, 1/34 ( Note that both the denominator and numerator of 2/72 are multiples of 2 so 2/72 becomes 1/34)
Or they can be written in decimals as 0.8333(the 3 is recurring), 0.277 (the 7 is recurring), 0.555 (5 is recurring), 0.029
* I am not sure about the decimal aswers for this question b/c I did it mentally so check the answers on a calculator.

6 1/8 + 4 3/8
Solution
6 1/8 + 4 3/8 = (49 + 35)/8
(49+ 35)/8 = 84/8
84/8 = 10 4/8 = 10 1/2

14 3/8 -10 5/8
Solution
14 3/8 - 10 5/8 = (115 - 85)/8
(115 - 85)/8 = 30/8
30/8 = 3 6/8 = 3 3/4

17 x 4/2
Solution
17 x 4/2 = 17/1 x 4/2
17/1 x 4/2 = 68/2
68/2 = 34

11 4/5 is known as a Mixed fraction b/c it contains both a whole umber and a fraction.

I hope that helped.
Good luck

1) 8/19

four is easy! 6 plus 4= 10 and 1 plus 4 equals 5. so.......

your answer is 10 and 4/8 or 10 1/2{Simplified}

The trick is to not add the bottom numbers of a fraction.

number 6) You put a 1 under 17 and multiply. 17 times 4 is 68 and 1 times 2 is two so you have an improper fraction. No problem! Just see how many times two goes into 68, which is 34, and thats your answer! Just 34.
