where are you located? I would come pick them up. In my area we are called the Snake Busters, however we pick up all sorts of reptiles and other animals. If im not close by you can take them to a located pond that you know of. just wash your hands after handling them. They are wood turtles I believe, so they do live on land but need to be near water and woods.
If the turtle has a hump sort of as a shell than it is a box turtle. If the shell is more flat and bumpy than its a awood turtle. Good Luck, you certainly could keep either one as a bet. They eat worms or any fruit or vegetable, nice pets

They might have just hatched... it'll be wise to let them be there and since its in ur yard... the elder turtles should be around... u can provide shelter to them... u can help them by keeping predators off ur yard and also at the same time providing a natural habitat for their well being.. read a bit more on the kind of turtle u have, so that u can care for them initially.. legal issues with turtles always prevent an individual for having them as pets, and for obvious reasons... so, meanwhile as u have provided them a natural habitat (ur yard) and shelter (from predators), next u can look out for a local Animal Welfare Centre to take care of these gentle creatures... or relocate them to a safer habitat... share ur experince with me...

It sounds like it is a box turtle and they are protected in many states and local jurisdictions.
The best thing is to return it and it will find its way to a suitable habitat. These are long loved creatures and the best thing for a healthy population, is for people not to remove them.
Box turtles are still common in pockets in different areas of the US, but more and of their habitats are being destroyed by humans. Their survival is being threatened.
If you are truly interested in keeping a turtle, I'd suggest you buy a captive bred one which is healthier and easier to feed. WC turtles, especially boxies, are hard to acclimatize to captivity.
Cheers

Sounds like a box turtle which are common, regardless that it is a baby and I'm sure you or if you have kids, want to take it, DO NOT! Leave it alone! The turtles know how to take care of themselves! Please don't make it a pet and in some states, it is illegal to anyways!

What you have are box turtles and they just hatch, maybe you have a compost pile near by where they hatch; they can take care of them self if left alone, they like berries, different types of vegetation, earth worms etc. Make sure no dogs are around cause they will eat them. I took care of injured baby box turtles and nursed them back to health; its better to set them free where they belong.

You can keep it and have aquairum and feed it a bunch of fruit and veggies and keep alot of water for it to drink or you can leave it alone or you can move it in a safer spot if it is in the road or near animals.

Leave it in the yard. It knows where it was going. Put it back. It was probably going to a ditch or some sort water.

return it to where the rest of the turtles are, if you know. Otherwise you may be it's only option for survival.
