i-book I think they will work on windows but i don't think they work with mac

Depends on the card. Ask at the cell phone store before you purchase it. (Make sure they know it is for a MAC, as they may be compatible with Windows PCs, but not MACs)

Probably not. The cards from phone companies are usually PCMCIA cards. The MacBooks have ExpressCard/34 slots. You could get an adapter, however.
